Bernie Skivington Managing Director, Relationship Management

Bernie leads the origination and relationship management team within the Banking arm of the Bank, responsible for managing the commercial relationships with our growing, diverse portfolio of bank and non-bank Delivery Partners. Working with product colleagues, the team will originate opportunities where our various funding & guarantee programmes can be deployed, through our Delivery Partners, to ensure access to sustainable finance for UK SMEs. The team is also the eyes and ears of the bank, building and managing important relationships with other external stakeholders, such as trade bodies and intermediary organisations.

Bernie has been with the Bank from inception, since 2013, before which he spent some 35 years in banking & finance, latterly with Barclays in their asset finance, and 20 years previously with NatWest, separated by 2-3 years as a director/owner in a start-up small business. So, he has relevant experience of the challenges faced by smaller businesses I the UK. He has long experience of relationship management in retail & corporate banking, in specialised finance, as well as corporate credit management and lending services roles.
