My business is all about providing education, developing financial literacy and encouraging entrepreneurship to underrepresented and underserved audiences.
Thanks to the Bounce Back Loan Scheme (BBLS) we could continue to do this throughout the pandemic – especially when help was needed the most.
- Jabo Butera Founder, Diversity Business Incubator (DBI)
Based in Plymouth, DBI is a business hub for minority ethnic entrepreneurs that assists with advice and provides support to help businesses grow.
During the pandemic Butera took out a Bounce Back Loan to help support his local community.
Embracing opportunities to scale up his reach, Butera’s team led a training programme on Zoom for local religious leaders, enabling them to accurately signpost their congregations to a range of government support.
This ranged from universal credit and childcare support to guidance on how to manage debt, housing concerns and even support for mental health.
Butera obtained his Bounce Back Loan through Santander.
Thanks to the Bounce Back Loan Scheme we were able to continue to support the local community during lock-down. We recognised the challenges and gave people the tools they needed to help survive and thrive during a difficult time.
What is key is giving people a chance to develop their own financial growth. There is passion, talent, and a great attitude, we want to provide them with great role models and support to help them build their better tomorrow.
